Screen Writing

This is good. I have signed up for "Million Dollar Screenwriting" workshop with SWAMP (Southwest Alternate Media Project) on May 16th. Course is being taught by Chris Soth, Writer/Director, creator of "Firestorm". Hopefully I will come away with a few pointers that will make my Screenplays more valuable. We shall see.

Governor Perry Signs Moving Picture Bill

Well, it's almost done. Governor Perry signed the Texas Moving Picture Incentive Bill. Hopefully the legislature will appropriate the full $60 million so Actors and Production Crews can get back to work in Texas.

"Fear Forward" quote by Robert Rodriguez at SXSW

At SXSW, I learned a new affirmation from Robert Rodriguez, well somewhat new, although, unsuspectingly I have been using it for most of my life. "Fear Forward." When you are facing the fear of the unknown, just keep moving forward and work it out, hence, always, "Fear Forward."
Thank you Robert, your words inspired me and many others that listened to you at SXSW.

Continuing the Training

Well, I am excited about today. I will be headed to Austin to take part in an Intensive On-Camera Workshop by two Casting Directors, Toni Cobb Brock and Sally Allen. It should be fun and interesting.
Unless you are a "Super Star", this is something all Actors must continue to do. Everyday, do something that will tone your craft. If it is nothing more than simple "sensualtion or space relationships." Do something every day.

Tips for Actors

Well, the Holiday Season is upon us. Lots of shopping to do and Holiday Parties to attend.
Parties, yes, yes, yes, attend all these you can. It is a must! At Holiday Parties you have an excellent chance to meet Directors, Producers, Casting Directors, Agents, etc. in a "non-committal", friendly atmosphere. This is a wonderful chance to "soft sell" yourself and get to know them and for them to get to know you. Remember, the Employer is looking for the best talented actor and if the know you and like you, well, that's even better. So, remember, don't miss the Parties you are invited to. On the other hand, don't crash parties that you are not invited to.


Here are examples of my recent Party meetings: Last week, I attended the Houston Ad Federation/Houston Communication Assoc. Holiday Party. I met, 1 head of a studio, 1 director, 2 ad agency executives, 6 fellow members of S.A.G and dozens of other actors and a 2 Industry Magazine Editors.
On Monday night, I attended the "Reel Women" Holiday Party in Austin where I met 1 production company director/executive, 2 directors, 2 writers (WGA members-"Go Writers"-The Screen Actors Guild supports you 100%), dozens of actors, many behind the scenes crew members and one photographer.

Don't be a "wall flower or home body". Reach and grab that "Golden Ring".
